Black, Red and Pearl

A bit of bright color for my weekend. I think we all need some brights when the weather starts to get a little less bright and cheerful. Scored this top at a resale store called Crossroads here in Berkeley for like $8 and its so soft and lovely- often get compliments on it. The cardigan is covered in pretty little pearls- again from a resale store. Black pants actually got in India (my parents live there!). But mainly the point I want to make is that no matter where you get it from you can make it work! Have fun with crazy colors and match it with some simple neutrals (or black) and make it work. Also, as always, the proof is in the details like this pearl cardi. I do need to get a couple more pears to sow into this (as you may notice). Don't reject an item just because it needs a little home-work. Don't be lazy people! get a-fixing and a-sowing!

Grey Gray

Hello, I hope you are having a wonderful Halloween weekend. I saw the most awesome costume today. This girl at the coffee shop had attached a doll's head on her shoulder- so subtle, so creepy, so wonderful. Anyways, today has been grey day (i say 'grey' these funny Americans say grAy) my sister laughed at me for using the term 'fall' instead of 'autumn' in a previous post. fair play. I am apparently coming over to the dark side- it is inevitable of course. But any ways, here we go. Wearing my ah-mazing thrifted vest. People often comment that I am giving off the Michael Jackson Thriller vibe. And in fact the vest's label is 'B.A.D' but that just makes it that much more awesome in my opinion- never be ashamed of sending out some MJ vibes. This outfit is a good representation of what I am all about- ie. nothing I am wearing costs more than 20 bucks- scooore! So I hope you feel inspired to go bargain hunting and thrifting for some wonderful things-do it DO IT!

Gimme Orange

Hello to fall! Orange is indeed the new 'Black' this fall- been spotting tons of Pumpkin-channeling at the moment.  Can't really think of a better color to say good-bye to summer in and Hello to fall leaves, hot lattes, cuddly sweaters and so much more. So while I would love to invest in a Burberry Prorsum coat (as seen below)- I think I might just sick with an ahh-mazing heavy knit scarf a la Columbine Smile- or perhaps a yummy orange Tote...

Trenched

Been out in SF today visiting my bro+sis in law and my nephew. Been a little cooler today so can finally bring out my trench- good h&m old faithful. It actually came with a hood- which I decided I hated and have since DIY-ed it to give it a Chinese- Style collar. SO, I love it now. I am a big big fan of DIY-ing. I will put some good DIY posts up soon. Honestly, one of the best things I have ever bought was a bag of studs and I went through a massive studding phase- I think my husband thought he was very lucky to get away without a wardrobe full of studded shirt...Oh and speaking of which, suddenly remembered a recent Atlantic-Pacific post with incorporated self-studding shirt collars (Bee is the Bomb) Soooo sweet. Here's the LINK- check it out. and in the mean time, I think I may just have to have a go at it and hope you dig the blue nails :-)

So, THIS is one of my favorite blogs to follow of all. Bleach Black is the product of Kristin Reiter and Valerie Killeen - best mates and bloody style goddesses- they find the coolest shit around that others just seen to overlook and have the best eye for all things sick. Love that you can follow their individual posts- yet they blend so well together. SO check it out! and here is an interview they recently did with Barneys for you also.
